Not a substitute for professional medical advice
The calculators, tools, and content on GetVitalNumbers are intended for informational and educational purposes only. They are not designed to replace, and should never be used as a substitute for, the professional judgment of a licensed physician, registered dietitian, certified personal trainer, or other qualified healthcare provider.
If you have a medical condition, are taking medication, are pregnant, or have any concern about your health, please consult your doctor or appropriate healthcare provider before making any changes to your diet, exercise routine, or health management plan.
Accuracy of calculations
Our tools use widely recognized formulas including the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for BMR, the US Navy circumference method for body fat estimation, and the Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi formulas for ideal weight. These are evidence-based starting points used by healthcare professionals worldwide.
However, all calculations are estimates. Individual results vary based on factors our tools cannot measure, including:
- Genetics and metabolic variation
- Hormonal status beyond what you self-report
- Muscle mass and body composition not captured by measurements alone
- Underlying medical conditions
- Medications that affect metabolism, weight, or fluid retention
- Measurement error in user-provided inputs
Ethnicity and population-adjusted data
Where GetVitalNumbers applies ethnicity-adjusted thresholds (such as WHO Asia-Pacific BMI standards), we do so based on published peer-reviewed research. These adjustments reflect population-level data and may not apply to every individual. They are provided to give more contextually relevant information — not to define your health status definitively.
Mental health and eating disorders
Numbers related to weight and body composition can be triggering for people with a history of disordered eating, body dysmorphia, or related mental health conditions. If you have or suspect you may have an eating disorder, we strongly encourage you to seek support from a qualified mental health professional before using weight or body composition tools.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) helpline can be reached at 1-800-931-2237, or text "NEDA" to 741741.
No doctor-patient relationship
Use of GetVitalNumbers does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and the operators of this website. We are not medical professionals and cannot provide personalized medical guidance.
